Update becomes available after we recognize the firmware on your device.

Connect with a USB-C data cable. Close other serial monitors first.

Connect to inspect the firmware, or start the monitor to see device logs.

USB disconnects during deep sleep. Press Front once to wake the device; the monitor reconnects automatically. Connect only your Note4c while monitoring. If several matching devices appear or logs do not resume, stop the monitor and select its port again. Saved logs can contain network details.

Connect your device

Connect a USB-C data cable, click Connect device and choose the USB JTAG/serial device. No button press is needed if it already appears. If it is asleep and missing from the list, briefly hold the front circular button and release it when USB appears.

After verification, the installer requests an automatic restart. Keep the front button released. If the firmware does not start, reconnect the USB cable or press RESET.

Still cannot connect?

Try another USB data cable and close other serial monitors. If the device still does not appear, keep USB connected, hold the front button, press and release the recessed RESET on the left side, then release the front button. Reconnect in the installer.

Back up the original firmware

With esptool installed, run these commands in a new folder. Replace PORT with your serial port, such as /dev/cu.usbmodem1101 or COM3. Keep the backup private.

python -m esptool --chip esp32s3 --port PORT --baud 460800 --after no-reset read-flash 0x0 0x1000000 original-firmware.bin
python -m esptool --chip esp32s3 --port PORT --baud 460800 --after no-reset verify-flash 0x0 original-firmware.bin

Continue only after verification succeeds. The website does not create this backup for you.

What happens to my settings?

Update preserves Wi-Fi credentials, the server address and pairing. It is available only for a recognized installation with the supported partition layout. Fresh install erases those settings and returns to setup. Neither option erases the entire flash chip.

Set up after a fresh install

Allow the device to restart and the display to finish. Join the Note4c-Setup-XXXX network shown on the screen, using password tesserae. Open http://192.168.4.1, enter your Wi-Fi details, then choose REST or Cloud relay and save. For REST, register the device on your server when prompted. For Cloud relay, enter a fresh pairing code created by your server.

To reopen setup later, hold the front button for 20 seconds and release at the three-flash cue.

If an installation is interrupted

Keep your backup. Re-enter the bootloader and reconnect. Retry Update if recognized; do not select Fresh install just to unlock installation when you need to keep settings. Save the log and use the project’s recovery instructions.
